Rail traffic will be interrupted from Friday August 25 to Monday August 28 between Mons and La Louvière-Sud in order to test the new signaling before it is put into service, indicated Thursday Infrabel, the company managing the rail infrastructure, and the SNCB.
The works aim to modernize the railway signaling on a 13 km long section of the Walloon backbone. The objective is to move from an electromechanical device to a fully computerized technology.
“This traffic cut is necessary in order to carry out final tests of the new signaling before its commissioning, which will once more impose an interruption, on the weekend of October 14 and 15”, specifies Infrabel.
During these two weekends of traffic interruption, and in parallel with these signaling works, various technical teams from Infrabel will be mobilized in multiple places on the line. They will use this traffic interruption to perform a number of maintenance tasks.
