Meet someone, get married, then have children: this is the traditional timeline of romantic relationships that girls have dreamed of since childhood. However, more and more women are tending to abandon this order, but that does not mean the end of beautiful love stories, according to a recent survey.
Thus, one in three women “no longer concentrate” on the pressure to achieve societal ideals. According to the annual report made by the dating site Bumble, women prefer to look for the right partner rather than trying to achieve these “outdated” life goals.
“Women are increasingly looking around and wondering why they feel the need to follow outdated rules when it comes to their romantic journeys and relationship milestones,” said Lucille McCart, APAC communications director at the dating app, news.com.au.
The latter thus explained that these deadlines were “exceeded” since 31% of women no longer respect them. However, romance is still present as 72% of women are looking for a long-term relationship on Bumble, even if only 23% of them are aiming for marriage.
“So often when you start dating someone and it gets serious, you feel like you’re on a hamster wheel, unable to deviate from traditional expectations of how a relationship should develop – move in together, get engaged, buy a house, get married, have a baby – but it’s okay to want something different,” she told the Australian media outlet.
