– Mobilis increases its rates for the first time since 2016
Tickets and subscriptions from the Vaud fare network will increase by 3.03%, on average, from next December.

Vaud users of public transport will appreciate the nuances. The average price increase will be 3.03% within the network of the Vaud Mobilis tariff community from 10 December. This is a little less than the 4.3% average increase for Switzerland announced last April by the Swiss Pass alliance, an increase which applies to the interzone tariff and to general subscriptions.
In the Mobilis price list, which brings together a patchwork of thirteen transport companies, there are other nuances. And they are big.
Cheaper subscriptions
Let’s start with the good news: the drops. They concern annual subscriptions in the Adult, Senior and Transmissible categories. These will cost the equivalent of nine monthly subscriptions instead of ten today. But beware: as the price of the monthly subscription will increase, the prices of these future annual subscriptions will fall within a range of 5% to 10%.
“Lausannois will see their annual two-zone subscription drop by 38 francs, the Vevey-Lausanne commuter by 128 francs, and the all-zone subscription will drop by 165 francs”, indicates Jérôme Moulin, operational manager of Mobilis.

Then, the most frequent tickets do not move. These are day passes, one- and two-zone tickets and short routes, but only at reduced rates. For everything else, there are increases: for individual tickets, day passes and monthly subscriptions, the average increase is close to 4%. A three-zone ticket goes from 11 fr. 20 to 11 fr. 60 (+3.57%), to take just one example.
In addition, the FlexiAbo, tested since 2021, will be made permanent within the Mobilis assortment. It authorizes 100 chosen days of travel, over a year, for a price corresponding to half the price of the annual subscription.
Inflation
Mobilis explains that this is the first time since 2016 that its rates have increased, because today companies are suffering from inflation and its attendant cost increases: payroll, interest, maintenance and energy. Added to this is the VAT hike from next January. “But the increase in prices is also due to a reduction in federal subsidies for public transport”, underlines Jérôme Moulin. He notes, on the other hand, that the financial effort of the Canton makes it possible to bring more regular users on public transport.
