The National Center for Cyber Security (NCSC) informed the Bernese police on July 21 regarding the security breach in the “MobileIron” app. The problem was quickly solved but the information had already leaked. “MobileIron” is an application used worldwide allowing employees equipped with their laptops in the field to connect to the employer’s server.

The Bernese police say they have no idea of the perpetrators of the data theft and have no indications to date that the latter have been published on the internet. Criminal proceedings are ongoing. Authorities abroad have already been victims of this kind of attack via the flaws of “MobileIron”, including the Norwegian state. Several ministries of this Scandinavian country have been hacked.
