Mobile screening for HIV (AIDS) in the province of Liège

As part of the actions for the prevention of infectious diseases, carried out by various associations subsidized by Wallonia, a system is reappearing in the Liège region. More particularly concerned here are Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), including HIV responsible for AIDS.

This device is a new mobile HIV testing van. This one has just carried out its first screening operation. This was the starting point of a long series since 23 screening operations are already scheduled for 2022. The van will notably go to the campus of the University of Liège, to reception centers in the province of Liège or will be present at various events.

It is an initiative of the ASBL Sidasol, financially supported to the tune of €40,000 by Wallonia and co-financed by the city of Liège. The objective is to go directly to meet the target audiences, which are sometimes more difficult to reach, by offering to carry out a rapid, free and anonymous screening.

If we can now live with HIV, it remains an infectious disease. It is therefore important to get tested regularly and to continue to use all the means of prevention and protection available (condoms, post-exposure treatment) in order not to contaminate your partners.“, emphasizes Christie Morreale, Walloon Minister in charge of Health.
