MMA fighter Jeff Monson renounced his US citizenship and surrendered his passport to the consulate in Istanbul. The sportsman said TASS.

“I surrendered my American passport to the US Consulate in Istanbul. I renounced my US citizenship due to the politics of this country. All my thoughts and my future are connected only with Russia,” Monson said.

The fighter in August 2022 announced plans to renounce US citizenship. He stated that he did not agree with the policy of the United States, which interferes in the affairs of other countries.

Monson refused a US passport with the words “people are suffering because of America”

Monson has been a citizen of Russia since May 2018, and in September of the same year he became a member of the Council of the Krasnogorsk City District of the Moscow Region from United Russia. In May of this year, he said that he plans to be elected to the State Duma in the future.

The 52-year-old Monson has 61 wins, 26 losses and two draws in MMA.
