Shohei Ohtani will become a free agent in the 2023 campaign and there is already talk regarding the contract that the Japanese is looking for with the Angels or the team that wants to sign him.
The Los Angeles Angels have the first option to agree with him, but if they give him what he asks for.
Journalist Ken Rosenthal recently reported that Los Angeles has been in talks with Shohei Ohtani’s agent regarding a possible contract extension.

During those conversations, the type of contract that the Japanese player is looking for, either with the Angels or with another team, was revealed.
Ohtani would be looking to sign a contract with a record annual salary in MLB history, similar to that of Max Sherzer with the Mets. Which the Angels are willing to offer him, but they wouldn’t give him a long-term contract, which he might get in the winter market.
Shohei Ohtani has had an irregular start to the season with the post, but little by little he has been raising his numbers and level. He is hitting .255 with a 3.64 ERA.
