Former New York Yankees player Derek Jeter announced this morning that he will no longer be CEO or shareholder of the Miami Marlins in the Big leagues.
Suddenly Jeter announced in a statement that the Miami Marlins and he will take different paths, thanking everyone who was by his side or was part of his last 5 years in the organization.

“The vision for the future of the franchise is different from the one I agreed to lead,” Jeter said in a statement Monday. “Now is the right time to step aside now that a new season is regarding to start,” Jeter said.
“Today I am announcing that the Miami Marlins and I have officially ended our relationship and I will no longer be CEO or shareholder of the club. Five years ago we had the vision to change the Marlins franchise, and as CEO, it has been an honor to put my name and reputation on the line to bring our plan to life through hard work, trust and responsibility, we transformed every aspect of the franchise, restructuring the workforce and developing a long-term strategic plan for success.
My family and I want to thank our amazing staff, Marlins fans, Marlins players and the greater Miami community for welcoming us with open arms and making us feel at home. The organization is stronger today than it was five years ago and I am thankful and grateful to have been a part of this team,” he said. Jeter.
The 47-year-old Hall of Famer joined the Marlins in 2017 and also owned a small percentage of the franchise. The team has had losing seasons since Jeter joined, with the exception of the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, where the team went 31-29 and lost in the Division Series.
