Constitutional Judge Arief Hidayat criticized the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP). Arief highlighted the DKPP sanctions on the Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy’ari.
“Don’t keep (the warnings) loud, last and last, until they’re not finished,” said Arief at the Constitutional Court (MK) Building, Central Jakarta, Friday, (5/4).
Arief referred to sanctions once morest Hasyim from DKPP. Hasyim received several strong warnings.
“The last strong warning, tomorrow if there are any more violations (the person) must be thrown away,” he explained.
Hasyim Asy’ari was declared to have violated the code of ethics regarding the registration process for presidential and vice presidential candidates following the Constitutional Court decided to change the age limit requirements for participants in the 2024 presidential election.
DKPP Chairman Heddy Lugito named Hasyim as the first defendant, proven to have violated the code of ethics and behavioral guidelines for election organizers.

“Imposing a final stern warning sanction to Hasyim Asy’ari as defendant 1,” said Heddy.
Meanwhile, the other six Indonesian KPU commissioners were given strict warnings. The six commissioners, namely Idham Holik, August Mellasz, Betty Epsilon Idroos, Mochammad Afifuddin, Yulianto Sudrajat, and Parsadaan Harahap.
DKPP member I Dewa Kade Wiarsa Raka Sandi, said that the KPU should immediately consult with the People’s Representative Council (DPR) and the government following the Constitutional Court Decision Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 which changed the age limit requirements for presidential and vice presidential candidates on October 16 2023.
