Indonesian mixed doubles Darren Aurelius/Bernadine Anindya Wardana advanced to the last 16 of the 2024 World Junior Championships. They obtained this certainty after defeating the Chinese Taipei pair Yi-Hao Lin/Jheng Yu Chieh in two straight games 21-11, 21-15 in the last 32. .
In the match which was held at the Nanchang International Sports Center Gymnasium on Wednesday (9/10), Darren/Bernadine performed well in the first game. In the second game they struggled before finding their best form again after the interval.
“In the first game we were able to control the match because the field conditions were winning with the wind, whereas in the second game we lost the wind so at first we were still confused about how to handle it. Luckily after the interval we were able to return to good performance,” said Darren in his statement, Wednesday (9/ 10).

In the round of 16, the third seed will face another Chinese Taipei pair, namely Shao Hua Chiu/Yan Fei Chen.
“Tomorrow we want to focus on ourselves, re-establishing our playing pattern,” said Darren.
Unfortunately, Darren/Bernadine’s steps were not followed by their two compatriots. Andhika Wirapati/Laudya Chelsea Griselda and Taufik Aderya/Clairine Yustin Mulia had to stop in the round of 32.
Andhika/Chelsea surrendered to 14th seed Bhargav Ram Arigela/Vennala Kalagotla from India with a score of 19-21, 22-24, while Taufik/Clairine had to admit the superiority of the host representatives Li Hong Yi/Zhang Jia Han who were seeded fourth, 13-21 and 19-21.
“Today our opponents played better and we focused on disappearing, appearing, disappearing. In the second game we tried to have the courage to complain but unfortunately there was an opportunity to play a rubber game but it didn’t work,” regretted Taufik. (M-3)
