Mountain biker Mona Mitterwallner finished seventh in the short track at the home World Cup in Leogang. The 21-year-old Tyrolean was 23 seconds slower than French winner Pauline Ferrand-Prevot on Friday. Laura Stigger, who won the first short track of the season in Nove Mesto, finished 15th (+55 sec.).

“I’m super happy. I’m so happy that I can be in the front row on Sunday,” said Mitterwallner, looking forward to the cross-country race. Stigger wasn’t unhappy with her placement either. “Logically, I would prefer to be further up the field, but I’ll take it as it is. The concentration in the women’s field is damn high, which is also really easygoing,” said the Ötztaler, who had finished third in cross-country in Leogang in the past two years and will start the race from the second row this year.

Downhill World Champion Valentina “Vali” Höll impressed with the best time in qualifying. The 21-year-old from Saalbach was the fastest following a 30-minute delay due to a thunderstorm. On Saturday, the semi-finals (from 10.45 a.m.) and then the final are on the program. “I’m relatively strong, two races play into my hands. I hope that I can take the momentum with me,” said Höll.
