Kyriakos Mitsotakis gave the assurance that “the state will make sure to move quickly” to compensate “the fortunately few” victims of the fire in Attica in his statement from Chania where he is for the 15th of August holiday.
At the same time, the prime minister sent a message that “the country moves forward only through unity and fighting the polarization and toxicity which has not done our country any good in recent years”.
“I hope that these moments of reflection will make us all think about how we can become better and how united we can move forward to face the great difficulties in the future” Kyriakos Mitsotakis concluded in his statement, who thanked the executives of the state apparatus and the volunteers for the battle they fought with the flames.
The Prime Minister’s entire statement
“Today we celebrate the fifteenth of August, faithful to our traditions. It is an important holiday of Orthodoxy, which gives us all strength to face great difficulties. At the same time, it is also the day that our Armed Forces celebrate, which we constantly make sure are strengthened, which is necessary in the troubled times in which we live.
Closure
On the occasion of this great celebration, I want to thank once again all the executives of the state apparatus and all our volunteers who fought the last few days very difficult battles with the flames in Attica and to reassure the fortunately few fellow citizens who were affected by the fire that the state will make sure to move quickly to compensate them.
The Fifteenth of August, like any great holiday, should be a moment of reflection and self-awareness, recognizing that the country moves forward only through unity and fighting the polarization and toxicity that has not done our country any good in recent years. I hope these moments of reflection make us all think how we can become better and how united we can move forward to face the great difficulties in the future. Happy birthday to all Greek women and men everywhere in the world.”
