THE Kyriakos Mitsotakisfrom Brussels, responded in high tones to those who accuse him of… national retreats against the backdrop of the Greek-Turkish and Immigration issues. The prime minister separated from his criticism Antonis Samaras, however, he recalled that the former prime minister had also met with him Tayyip Erdogan.

For the “lentil patriots”, mentioned by Mr. Mitsotakis with regard to Immigration, the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, emphasized that the prime minister “did not avoid personalizing those to whom he was addressing, who belong more broadly to the Far Right in the country. We are not giving away our success in Immigration to any Far Right”. At the same time, he spoke of a “specific narrative” reproduced by all parties to the right of the N.D., based on which Greece is going to do “something between treason and a hidden plan, which is completely contrary to reality, given what we have lived in recent years,” he told SKAI.

“Which other government extended territorial waters in the Ionian Sea from 6 to 12 nautical miles? Which other government signed two EEZs? Which other government has gone ahead with such armament programs with Rafale, Belharra and F-35?” he asked. As for Greek-Turkish, he reiterated that there is not even half a statement by a government official that implies concession, making it clear that the government is not going to put national rights in the balance.

He also added that Greece fully identifies with Cyprus in the issue of the Cypriot issue, that is, a solution to the issue on the basis of the UN Security Council. “Whoever says that treason is being attempted is like saying that Cyprus wants to betray itself. Besides, Cyprus itself has said, through its president, that the process of dialogue with Turkey has informally contributed to the resumption of discussions on the Cyprus issue”.

“The Mitsotakis government faithfully follows the national lines”, the general director of Press and Information of the Prime Minister, Panos Amyras, said in the First Program. “The fact that we are discussing with Turkey does not mean that we agree, and much more it is neither betrayal nor betrayal. Our national lines remain inviolable on the issue of the one and only difference with Turkey, but also on the issue of Cyprus. And of course, rightly so, the prime minister wondered where all these super-patriots were when the prime minister and the New Democracy government took concrete steps to arm the country with defense cooperation for the procurement of the Rafale, the frigates, the orders for the F -35, for the construction of the fence in Evros”, he added.

Regarding the concerns expressed about whether there is a mood of Greek submissiveness in Greek-Turkish, Mr. Amyras said the following: “I understand that there may be concerns, but on the contrary, I would say that there should be self-confidence and, of course, that they judge the citizens the moves the Mitsotakis government has made for the country’s defense armor, to go to the dialogue and for the diplomatic alliances it has concluded with countries of strategic importance, but also for the measures it has taken to deal with the Migration. Greece has not moved a single step away from our national positions and this applies to all our government officials.”

FOR SAMARA: “We will not enter into a dispute”

Regarding the statements of Antonis Samaras, Pavlos Marinakis noted that what he says has particular weight, underlining that “the government will not enter into a dispute with a man who has led the faction and the country, fully respecting his path and opinions of which are known”.
