Pavlos Marinakis launched an attack on those who see a “finger” Mitsotakis behind Kasselakis in order to dissolve SYRIZA but also on PASOK which he accuses of copying SYRIZA’s amendments and simply changing the emblem.
“I don’t think that even the most imaginative screenwriter, or someone who is a spreader of false news, believes this,” said Pavlos Marinakis regarding the allegations by SYRIZA executives that they are behind Kasselakis.
“If they are looking for the cause, let them read modern Greek history that begins 10-15 years ago. Now they see the consequences of everything that started happening by their party in the upper and lower square the supposedly proud negotiation, that our country has reached the precipice and the Greek people have suffered because of them. Now we are seeing the consequences. Let them not look elsewhere for orchestrators because no one believes them.” When asked if Maximou applauds or has made any assessment of what happened to SYRIZA, he answered: “There is no reason for anyone to celebrate or be happy with what happened. It’s the culmination of everything that happened a few years ago.”
Regarding the amendment submitted by PASOK to include the staff of the National Health Service in the heavy and unhealthy categories, Pavlos Marinakis replied:
“It’s a no-cost amendment. No one disputes that both the government and any party would like such a move to be made possible. PASOK follows a tactic that reminds us of something and we searched and found an exactly the same amendment that SYRIZA MPs had submitted in 2020 with exactly the same requests. The only thing the PASOK MPs changed is the emblem – instead of SYRIZA it said PASOK – and the color. Unpriced amendments are now colored green. We will do this costing and no one hears anything like this. Neither the citizens nor those who concern them, the health workers. Obviously, PASOK decided because SYRIZA is in a state of disintegration to assume the role of SYRIZA and table amendments without costing. Let them tell us how much it costs and let PASOK tell us where to cut.” And he concluded: “If PASOK wants to play the role of a serious opposition, it should tell us how much the things it proposes cost and where they will come from.”

**Interview with Pavlos Marinakis: Addressing Allegations and the Future of SYRIZA**
**Editor:** Good afternoon, Pavlos Marinakis. Thank you for joining us today.
**Pavlos Marinakis:** Thank you for having me.
**Editor:** You recently made headlines by rejecting claims that Prime Minister Mitsotakis is manipulating the situation with Kasselakis to undermine SYRIZA. Can you elaborate on that?
**Pavlos Marinakis:** Absolutely. It’s baffling to me that anyone would entertain the notion that Mitsotakis has a “finger” in this. I truly don’t think even the most imaginative screenwriter, nor anyone spreading falsehoods, would buy into this narrative. It seems like a deflection from more pressing issues within SYRIZA itself.
**Editor:** You mentioned that critics should look into modern Greek history. Can you explain what you mean by that?
**Pavlos Marinakis:** Sure. If they want to understand the underlying issues SYRIZA is facing today, they should reflect on our political landscape over the last 10-15 years. It’s critical to recognize the evolution of our party and how past decisions and divisions have led us to our present situation.
**Editor:** You also addressed PASOK’s recent actions, claiming they’ve merely adopted SYRIZA’s amendments and altered their emblem. What’s your take on their political strategy?
**Pavlos Marinakis:** It’s frustrating to see PASOK copying our amendments without truly understanding or representing the principles behind them. Changing an emblem or a slogan doesn’t equate to genuine political reform or innovation. It feels more like opportunism rather than a genuine desire to address the needs of the people.
**Editor:** What do you think is the path forward for SYRIZA, given the current political climate?
**Pavlos Marinakis:** The path forward lies in cohesive leadership, a clear vision, and genuine connection with our constituents. We need to embrace our core values and evolve, rather than become entangled in conspiracy theories or defensive tactics. It’s about authenticity and addressing the issues that matter.
**Editor:** Thank you, Pavlos Marinakis, for sharing your insights today. It’s clear that navigating the current political landscape will require reflection and strategic action.
**Pavlos Marinakis:** Thank you for the opportunity to discuss these important topics.
