“We are in view of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization and as always, Athens and Nicosia are coordinating their actions in view of the relevant developments in the Cyprus issue. Therefore, we will once again be given the opportunity to take a comprehensive overview of the open issues, at a time when, unfortunately, there is growing concern about the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. Greece and Cyprus are two countries that are pillars of stability in a very geopolitically troubled region of the planet. So, especially at this juncture, our coordination is more necessary than ever” said the Greek Prime Minister during his meeting with Mr. Christodoulidis.

For his part, the president of the Republic of Cyprus stated: “The current state of affairs is not the solution for the Cypriot people. And I am sure that through the resolution of the Cyprus issue and the complete normalization of Greek-Turkish relations, we will contribute even more to what Greece and Cyprus, Cyprus and Greece prove to be pillars of security and stability in this region of particular geostrategic importance.”

The main topic on the agenda is the electrical interconnection project with Greece, Great Sea Interconnector.
