Mitrovic Stats Underline Gulf in Premier League Class

Aleksandar Mitrovic’s scoring returns may fool you into thinking that he’s one of the hottest properties in world football. The Serbian international has been averaging at around a goal every game this season and that’s impressive by any standards.

Over in the German Bundesliga, another man is providing similar scoring ratios. Erling Haaland, currently of Borussia Dortmund, is set to spark a bidding war in the summer which will see his fee rise above 100 million Euros.

But Aleksandar Mitrovic doesn’t play top flight football. He is just one step below, in the Championship but, as far as willing buyers are concerned, he might as well be in the Spartan League.

Mitrovic’s Season in Numbers

Mitrovic is currently banging in the goals for Fulham who are homing in on a return to the Premier League at the first attempt. In his first 34 league games of the current campaign, the Serb has scored no fewer than 35 goals.

When a team has such a prolific scoring unit in their side, they are likely to be challenging at the very top of the table. That’s been the case at Craven Cottage this season and Fulham appear to be coasting towards promotion and the Championship title.

First Things First

Before Aleksandar Mitrovic can consider where he might be playing in 2022/23, he has a job to finish. His Fulham side go into the final stages of the current campaign as Championship leaders and the Cottagers look certain to close out the title. With nine games to go, Fulham enjoyed a huge cushion of 11 points over Bournemouth who were leading the chasing pack.

Nothing is certain but the west London side have the full backing of neutrals as they go into the final stages of the season. If we take a look at sports betting sites, including those with online roulette and other casino options, the bookmakers list Fulham as red hot favourites for the Championship title.

Those figures are supplied by sources close to Asiabet.org and there is some room for movement in the weeks before the end of the season. The site will update with latest odds but it’s unlikely that Fulham’s position as favourites will waver.

While here, readers can also take in some news stories from around the football world. Asiabet will also provide access to their panel of recommended bookmakers for those who want to get involved with the markets.

Each of the bookmakers referenced on the site will accept new registrations and there are some generous welcome offers in return for signing up. Several different deposit methods can get the account moving while ongoing promos, a choice of other sports and the option to bet on mobile are also in play. Casino options will also be on offer with roulette a particularly popular option here.

Fulham want to avoid such games of chance and it’s hoped that Aleksandar Mitrovic will be playing in the Premier League next season but will he remain at Fulham or should a bigger club make their move?

Should a Top Premier League Club take a chance?

Mitrovic isn’t the only player capable of prolific returns in the Championship while struggling in the Premier League. Over at Norwich City, Teemu Pukki is very similar in terms of his ratio in the first and second tiers.

Both men have been prolific at Championship level but can’t quite find the potency in the EPL. It rather underlines the gap between the two divisions and helps to explain why both Norwich and Fulham have been the yo-yo clubs of the modern era.

Would either Mitrovic or Pukki prosper at a bigger club where higher quality midfielders are supplying the ammunition once morest weaker defences? There’s only one way to answer that question but top six Premier League sides are reluctant to pick up talent from the second tier.

Knocking on the Door

Ben Brereton Diaz is another player who has enjoyed a productive season in Championship football. Since confirming his allegiance to the Chilean national team, he’s improved exponentially as a striker and was also averaging around a goal a game in the first half of the season.

His current club, Blackburn Rovers, are also in the playoff mix and the striker may be with Rovers in the EPL next term. Live Pukki and Mitrovic, it would be fascinating to see Brereton Diaz at a top Premier League side.
