Mitchell Starc: Mitchell Starc Best Australian Cricketer, Ashley Gardner Female Player

Melbourne: Pacer Mitchell Starc has been awarded the Allan Border Medal for Best Australian Cricketer of 2021. Starc is the fifth bowler to win the Alan Border Medal in 22 years. Ashleigh Gardner wins Belinda Clarke Award for Best Female Actress Gardner is the first tribal woman to be voted Best Actress.

Players, umpires and members of the media voted to select the winners. Mitchell Starc won the Alan Border Medal, beating Mitchell Marsh. Starc took 43 wickets in three formats last year. Starc also won last year’s ODI Player of the Year award. Since the award was introduced in 2000, only Pat Cummins, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee and Glenn McGrath have been voted the best cricketers before Starc.

Mitchell Marsh named T20I Man of the Match Travis Head is the best Test player. Travis Head also won the Best Domestic Player award. Beth Mooney has been named the T20 Women’s Player of the Year. Alyssa Healy, wife of Mitchell Starc and daughter of former Australian wicketkeeper Ian Healy, is the best female ODI player.

Gardner, who was named the Women’s Player of the Year, scored 281 runs and took nine wickets with four fifties last year. Coaches Justin Langer and Riley Thompson have been inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
