Sydney: A setback for Australia preparing for the Test series against India. Their star pacer Mitchell Starc will miss the first Test in Nagpur on February 9. Starc clarified that he is not fully recovered from the finger injury. But the player will return for the second Test starting in Delhi. Starc was injured during the second Test against South Africa. After that, Starc could not play the third Test.

As Starc said during the Australian Cricket Awards ceremony… “I am ready. But if you wait for another two weeks, you will be able to bounce naturally. It is possible to return to the second Test against India in Delhi.” Starc expressed confidence. Cricket Australia has announced an 18-member squad for the four-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.

The Aussie team has been selected by including four spinners. Young spinners Todd Murphy, Mitchell Swapsen, Ashton Agar and Nathan Lyon are the spinners in the Aussie team. Both the reserve players have a spinner. Batter Matt Renshaw and spinner Peter Handscomb have been included as reserve players. Rookie Lance Morris, who was in the squad for the series against South Africa but did not get a chance to play, has retained his place in the squad.

Pat Cummins is the hero. Former captain Steve Smith is the vice-captain. Usman Khawaja, Marnes Labuschagne, Travis Head, Josh Hazelwood and David Warner are all in the team. All-rounder Cameron Green is also in the squad, who has not recovered from injury. The series is crucial for India to reach the final of the World Test Championship.
