The Taean Marine Police Station announced on the 8th that it was arresting and investigating the couple’s son, Mr. A, on charges of assisting suicide. Mr. A reported missing at around 1:30 pm on the 30th of last month, saying that his parents in their 70s, who were catching clams together in the mudflats of Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, were no longer seen.

Afterwards, the mother, Mr. B, was found dead near the mud flat where she disappeared on the morning of the 1st, and the father, Mr. C, was found dead in the sea near Yeondo, Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do, on the morning of the 6th.

It was discovered that Mr. A and others live in areas other than Taean-gun. Although no external signs of murder were found on the bodies of the deceased couple, it was reported that Mr. A was captured on nearby closed-circuit (CCTV) moving with his parents to the mudflats on the day of his disappearance and later coming out alone.

The police believe that Mr. A may have been involved in the couple’s disappearance, and applied for an arrest warrant on the 6th. The warrant was issued the next day and the investigation is underway.
