Missing 59-year-old duped by Dua Lipa deepfake 2024-04-13 19:18:34

According to Italian media, Bonzi, who works in Milan, appears to have been the victim of an online dating scam as he had been chatting on social media with a woman posing as popular singer Dua Lipa since last summer. In fact, it seems that Bonji had sent the woman 5,000 euros in two installments.

In the TV show “Chi l’ha visto?” of Rai3, a perennial institution in Italy in finding missing persons, a reporter contacted the woman impersonating the singer, who even claimed that, although she had not seen Bongi, she asked for 50 euros to give information and go to the city of Cagliari of Sardinia to look for him.

As the Fanpage site points out, a first police investigation into the woman’s VAT number (which she gave to the show for the payment) confirmed that it is not Dua Lipa but a 58-year-old woman from Sicily.

The news of the now 20-day disappearance of the janitor comes with the greatest concerns of his family, members of which have spoken regarding his loneliness but also regarding his life on the Internet.

On his social networks, Bonji posted the following, last message: “This is my last post, and also one of the last actions of my life. The cause is a love disappointment that I might not manage.” A message that is troubling, since he was seen on a security camera leaving with a small piece of luggage, which was later found near his home in Milan.
