Around ten regional misses were able to visit the premises of the regional cancer screening coordination center in Guyana on November 27. The Miss France candidates also participated in a prevention workshop. An initiative of Alicia Aylies, Miss France 2017, she is ambassador of the CRCDC of Guyana.

It was important to me that the regional misses, at least some of them, can come to the CRCDC.“Alicia Aylies, Miss France 2017 and Miss Guyana 2016, invited one of the three groups of candidates for Miss France 2023 to a visit to the regional cancer screening coordination center in Guyana.

The beauty queen is an ambassador of the CRCDC of Guyana for the cervix. She wants to raise awareness as many people as possible about this subject.

Saturday (November 25), we had our charity gala, so it allows them to put a visual on what they heard about and to be entitled to a small presentation of the actions carried out within the CRCDC.

The 10 candidates present were able to visit the premises, they also had a presentation of the colorectal cancer screening kit. “As for the breast, you need to do a mammogram and for the cervix, it’s a smear. They wouldn’t have been able to attend that, so we opted for this kit“, explains Alicia Ayliès.

They also learned the functions of CRCDC. Explanations provided by Michelle Sandra Monlouis-Dava, president of the center. In particular, she taught them thata laboratory should be designated in Guyana for reading colorectal tests during the year 2024. So far, the samples have been sent to France.

The other good news is that the structure received a check for 4,245 euros. A sum collected during the charity gala on November 25.

This amount corresponds to an auction carried out by our ambassador! She really mobilized, with her Miss colleagues, to help the CRCDC with the “information” aspect. Because it is above all information, in the different languages of Guyana, which is very important, so that the population adheres to our awareness message.

Throughout the discussions, the misses showed themselves to be very interested, like Elise Aquilina, Miss Roussillon. “It’s true that we, as women, are very informed about breast cancer screening, but much less on everything related to the cervix and colorectal cancerwhich ultimately could concern us in a more or less near time“, she says.

It was very rewarding“, adds Nadine Benaboud, Miss Midi-Pyrénées. She continues: “I didn’t know about colorectal cancer at all. The figures spoke for themselves and this shows us the importance of informing.

For the regional misses, it is an opportunity to raise awareness in turn. A work that Indira Ampiot, Miss France 2023, began even before being elected to the national competition. “I had joined ‘Les Amazones Guadeloupe’, so I had the opportunity to do actions with them“, she recalls. Adding: “ultimately, it’s a message that we put forward through the press, and also with people, when we interact with them. We try to highlight the cause and above all the good actions to apply“.

It’s also a discovery for Audrey Ho-Wen-Tsaï, Miss Guyana: “I had already been told about breast cancer, uterine cancer, but not colorectal cancer. I didn’t know it was difficult to get tested in Guyanabut I know that soon we will be able to do it“.

She adds :

It’s good to participate in this type of conference so that we can be informed and that we can, through our title, spread this information, because prevention is better than cure.
