Around 1:32 p.m., the Antwerp woman hit the back of a stationary truck in a traffic jam. According to Nicolas Geniets, her boyfriend whom she had just left to return home to Linkeroever (Antwerp), she was transported unconscious with very serious injuries to the hospital. She was reportedly hit in the head.
The firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and provided him with first aid. They took a good half hour to extricate her.
Since then, she would have regained consciousness and would be out of danger. “She has serious injuries to her face and the rest of her body. Her lung was affected and she is suffering from several internal bleedings. According to the doctors, her condition is stable,” Nicolas Geniets told HLN.
