It is the first part of an awards program for technology-based content creators. According to WAICA’s website, the organization is “dedicated to recognizing the achievements of AI creators around the world” and the Miss Artificial Intelligence pageants will judge contestants “for their beauty, technology and influence on social media”, as reported by a publication in “People” magazine.
As the report of the American magazine notes, the members of the jury will take into account the traditional elements of a beauty catwalk. – such as appearance, posture and body movements, and the contestants’ answers to questions – however points will also be awarded for the technical skills of the ‘models’, as well as their developers’ application of Artificial Intelligence tools.
In a digital world the influence of contestants on social media could not but play an important role. Judges will look at their follower growth rate and how they interact with their followers on their platforms. The organizers are talking about “a monumental leap forward, almost 200 years after the first beauty pageant, which took place in the 1880s”.
Terms of participation
To enter the contest, content creators will first submit an image of a woman created with the help of Artificial Intelligence tools and answer a list of classic and technical questions.
The panel of judges includes two fully digital personalities, major TN creators in the world, Aitana Lopez and Emily Pellegrini who have amassed millions of followers and signed huge commercial deals to promote products. The other two judges are leading beauty pageant historian Sally Ann Fawcett and marketing expert Andrew Bloch. The first three prizes will receive $20,000 and the winners will be announced on May 10.
While there is no shortage of criticism of the sexist figures of women reproduced by AI, the organizers note that they want the use of AI tools to create digital artworks to be evaluated, including their creativity and attention to detail.
