Misano test: Fabulous time by Quartararo (Yamaha) / MotoGP

Concluding the two-day MotoGP test at Misano, Yamaha factory rider Fabio Quartararo stayed under the all-time lap record. Honda star Marc Márquez totaled 100 laps in the MotoGP comeback.

“Who else is driving?” Pecco Bagnaia wondered at 2 p.m. when the fourth and final session of the Misano test began. Most of the drivers had already packed up for lunch, Aleix Espargaró watched with an injured finger. Fabio Quartararo and his brand colleague Darryn Binder, on the other hand, went back out on the track right after the break. The championship leader tested a new disguise all in black.

In addition to LCR Honda driver Alex Márquez and Red Bull KTM works driver Brad Binder, test drivers Stefan Bradl and Dani Pedrosa were also in action for the first hour. A total of only twelve drivers took to the track in the afternoon session, including Marc Márquez.

The Repsol Honda star had cooled his right arm with ice water during the break and then completed 34 laps. After 100 days of compulsory MotoGP break, the eight-time world champion did 61 laps on Wednesday alone. Yesterday, Tuesday, he had already completed 39 and then paused in the afternoon.

Quartermaster, who was very satisfied with the development work done by Yamaha, set a new best time of 1:31.054 minutes at around 4 p.m. In doing so, he stayed below Bagnaia’s official all-time lap record – a 1:31.065 from the 2021 San Marino GP.

Alex Márquez, Brad Binder and Takaaki Nakagami also set personal bests. Other than that, there were no more changes in the combined timesheets.
