Thursday night in Buenos Aires and a new theatrical week is activated on Corrientes Avenue. And the city’s commercial billboard highlights Los Mosqueteros del Rey, a piece staged at the Astros Theater, which is being starred by Nicolás Cabré, Jorge Suárez, Nicolas Scarpino and Fredy Villarreal, who are directed by Manuel González Gil. And in this last performance Mirtha Legrand appeared, always present among the theater audience and willing to give her support to the Argentine actors.

In this case, as Teleshow learned, Chiquita wanted to anticipate seeing Cabré’s work since the actor will be sitting at her table this coming Saturday, October 21. On this occasion, she will do it in the company of Guillermo Coppola, Nicolás Vázquez and Luciana Salazar. The diva arrived at the theater accompanied by a group of her closest friends and, following the performance, she received the protagonists in the box, who gave her a bouquet of flowers in her honor.

Mirtha said a few words to the audience present, she was complimentary of the play and, like the actors, she received a standing ovation from the crowd who exclaimed her name. “Thank you very much for this wonderful night,” she began by saying from the main box, surrounded by Cabré and the rest of the protagonists. “Do you get along with each other?” she joked to the laughter of the audience.

The play, which was also written by González Gil, is a 90-minute comedy in which four actors try to start the performance. However, a series of incidents prevent them from doing so, either because they forget the texts, they are confused with the entry and exit moments, there are contradictions or comments on the information in the story. Little by little, they try to put together the famous novel by Alexandre Dumas (The Three Musketeers) but the complications increase until the moment where they must make a radical decision.

The King’s Musketeers is a work that has already received national and international awards and distinctions. It explores comedy through the game of “acting error” and creates a hilarious, witty and unmissable piece.

The first presentation of Los Mosqueteros del Rey was in 1980 and at that time its author and director González Gil premiered it together with the Grupo Catarsis at the Presidente Alvear Theater in the City of Buenos Aires. Eleven years later he presented it once more at Paseo La Plaza with a cast made up of Miguel Ángel Solá, Hugo Arana, Darío Grandinetti and Juan Leyrado, remaining on the bill for five years with seasons in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires and Villa Carlos Paz. in addition to touring nationwide.

It was the first play in Argentina to receive the sponsorship of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for spreading solidarity and friendship. The piece had been planned and began as a show for children, but later it became one of the favorite works of adults due to its humor and witticisms. The re-release of this new version took place at the end of last August.

“They are these fantasies that when you do a play they tell you: ‘How do you remember so many things? Aren’t they wrong?’ We all act at school and we have that feeling,” Cabré characterized in dialogue with Teleshow regarding how he faced this challenge to star in this play.

“I was lucky to have been a person who was always well accompanied, with my representative, with my family, who understand what it costs them. My father was a taxi driver, my mother worked as a school assistant: I understand the value of things and I give it neither more nor less than that meaning. We never did things for money. What we always sought was to grow, surround ourselves and learn, because this is a very long career. And it’s not that we don’t prioritize money now: we never prioritize money. When I talk regarding us it is because of my representative, Pedro (Rosón), because if not it seems like I am talking regarding my ego and me,” said the actor regarding how his career turned out.
