“He’s a man,” says the uncle of the experienced Mirage 2000-5 pilot who was forced to abandon it during taxiing at Tanagra Air Base at midday on Monday (01/07/2024).
Thanks to her cool movements and proper training, the pilot of the 114th Fighter Wing managed to leave the Mirage 2000-5 and avoid the worst.
As the pilot’s uncle explained to newsit.gr, “the brakes caught on the landing and the warplane turned, so the seat was ejected. Everything is fine, luckily nothing happened either to the aircraft or to the child. She was simply taken to the hospital as a precaution and at the moment her mother is by her side.”
It all started, according to the announcement of the General Air Staff, at 13:46 noon on Monday (07/01/2024) when during the taxiing after landing from a training flight, the Lieutenant Commander successfully abandoned the Mirage 2000-5 aircraft in the 114th Fighter Wing, at Tanagra Air Base.
It is noted that the 331st Squadron with call sign: “Theseus” operates with this type of aircraft from the 114th fighter wing.
Vice Admiral Mr. Konstantinos Iatridis also spoke about the fighter pilot in the LiveNews show, stressing that “this particular pilot made many mock shootings and there was fear and terror, as the Turks themselves said. She also participated in an international exercise in the Arab Emirates and received many compliments and impressed him with her combativeness.”
