Miraflores cable car of US$ 10 million was awarded to a consortium of Austrian origin, where will it start from? | Miraflores cable car | ECONOMY

The Miraflores cable car -with an investment of close to US$10 million- is one step away from becoming a reality. Given that the Doppelmayr/Garaventa group, of Austrian origin, in partnership with a national company, was awarded the private Lima Costa Verde cable car initiative, following completing the entire selection process.

The Municipality of Miraflores reported that the project -eminently tourist and connectivity- will link the Miraflores boardwalk, at the height of the Domodossola park, with the Redondo beach, next to the Vía de la Costa Verde.

Who is the Doppelmayr / Garaventa Group regarding? Since its founding in 1892, the company has built more than 15,100 facilities in more than 96 countries. In addition, he pointed out, the commune has a wide and varied range of products, such as detachable cable cars; aerial trams; Cableway; funiculars and people movers.

In Latin America, this group has carried out projects in Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, among others. In Bolivia -for example- it built the cable car that connects the cities of La Paz and El Alto through 11 lines with a total length of approximately 33 kilometers.

In Miraflores, the cable car, added the commune, will have two swing-type cabins with capacity for 15 passengers each and the possibility of loading bicycles, skates, electric skateboards and surfboards.

It will have a route of 350 meters, from the station, in the perimeter of the Domodossola park to Redondo beach.

Each trip will last no more than three minutes and can carry 300 passengers per hour round trip. The goal is to become a tourist reference for Lima.

The Domodossola park will not suffer any alteration, since the 300 square meters that the cable car station will occupy will be built on a lower platform located in the same ravine, so as not to affect the unrestricted view of the sea, the sidewalks, bike paths and green areas of the boardwalk.

It also has the respective geotechnical studies for the stabilization of the cliffs and the prior authorizations from the Authority for the Costa Verde Project. The cable car, noted the Municipality, does not take away the view, does not affect or invade the park, uses the cliff and does not affect the landscape.

In the future, the cable car might be expanded, to connect it with other beaches on the Costa Verde and with the Metropolitano station in Chorrillos, thus forming a sustainable transport system without emissions and that uses only electricity as an energy source.

They have now completed 90 days from the declaration of interest and therefore the law empowers the consortium to be the successful bidder of the project, now it is being presented to the district council for the formalization of the direct award and approval of the contract under the surface right modality.

From there, the pre-operational and pre-construction stage begins, which will correspond to the execution of the contract.
