Mipyme produces the first Paraguayan vermouth in Areguá

Asuncion, IP Agency.- “DosGen” is the name of the first vermouth brand made in Paraguay, run by a micro-enterprise with its production headquarters in Areguá.

The enterprise was born from the proposal of two generations of women, who established the first factory in Asunción, from Argentina.

In response to increased demand, they moved production to Areguá, Nicole Bulla, one of the company’s business partners, told Paraguay TV. The Areguá headquarters also facilitates the production of one of the DosGen varieties: vermouth rosso, produced with red wine and a strawberry base.

The production includes two varieties, one made from white wine and one made from red wine. Both are available in supermarkets, wineries and tourist shops in Ciudad del Este.

Starting this weekend, they will also be offered at the La Vermutería store. The business’s commercial manager, César Céspedes, said that it took about eight months of work to get the company and its production up and running, with the corresponding registrations, and they had the support of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC).

Vermouth is a maceration of wine and botanical products, such as sugar cane, which are placed in a stainless steel tank for about eight weeks. After six weeks, the botanicals are removed and the syrup is added for the final preparation, they explained about the production process of the aperitif.

Two people are employed in the laboratory for production and another 10 work indirectly in the commercial and marketing department.
