Minya Health: 3,868 women were examined within the maternal and fetal health initiative

Dr. Mohamed Nady, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Minya, announced that 3,868 pregnant women were examined over the course of last August, as part of the activities of the Presidential Initiative to care for the health of mothers and fetuses, and 910,15 women were examined since the launch of the initiative.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Khalil, Director of the Basic Care Department and Coordinator of Presidential Initiatives in Minya Governorate, explained that the initiative aims to examine pregnant women from the first day of pregnancy until birth, with the aim of early detection of many diseases, the most important of which are hepatitis B virus, syphilis and human immunodeficiency virus. In addition to checking the pressure, taking physical measurements of weight, height, and measuring blood sugar, in order to prevent the transmission of diseases from the mother to the fetus.

Khalil added that the initiative is taking place in 260 health units and medical centers in all health departments in Minya Governorate through trained medical teams, taking all necessary preventive and precautionary measures and following infection control methods.
