The Minister of Health, Rosa Bertha Gutiérrez Palomino, toured the Punta Hermosa district where she verified the start of fumigation tasks in homes affected by the mudslides and floods.
The head of Health highlighted the importance of preventing dengue fever and other rain-associated diseases with community participation and allowing fumigators and larval control inspectors to enter their homes.
“We are present at this point where we reaffirm our commitment to help families in a sustained manner and resolve this situation to recover the affected areas and combat dengue with visits to homes and fumigation actions,” he said.
After visiting the affected areas of Cieneguilla, Minister Rosa Gutiérrez traveled to Punta Hermosa to supervise the care provided by health personnel from Diris Lima Sur at the Mobile Advance Post (PMA). She also visited those affected who are in the temporary shelter at the Víctor Andrés Belaunde school.
“We continue to work intensively in the affected areas that have been flooded with mud and earth. The Government, through its ministries, is present throughout the country and we are not going to rest until we ensure that families are well cared for and protected, since the health sector is going to take care of the health of families, children and everyone our Peru”, he emphasized.
In this line, the Minister of Health reported that in the regions that are in a health emergency due to a dengue outbreak, approximately more than 800 tons of useless or potential breeding sites have been eliminated to prevent the transmitting mosquito from reproducing.

“We want to have a healthy district, which is why we are going to work with the mayor to build a health facility that has not counted for many years. We are not going to stop until we get the file and the financing because Punta Hermosa deserves all our support,” he said.

In the Cieneguilla district, 1,180 houses were fumigated, benefiting the population of the Rio Seco Urbanization. In San Juan de Lurigancho, 180 homes in the Mangomarca urbanization, and in Comas, 50 tents and temporary shelters, benefiting the people of the Alameda Del Pinar urbanization.
