Minor admits involvement in English riots; will be sentenced

LONDON.— A 13-year-old girl admitted yesterday her involvement in last week’s riots in England, after threatening violence outside a hotel housing asylum seekers in Aldershot.

The teenager, whose name cannot be revealed for legal reasons as she is a minor, appeared before the court yesterday Basingstoke Magistrates’ Courtin southern England, legal sources reported.

The girl, whose sentence will be imposed next monthadmitted having made the threats outside the Potters International Hotel on July 31.

The National Police Chiefs Council (NPCCin English) reported yesterday that the number of arrests for violence rises to 975 and 546 people were accuseds, among them a child of only 12 years old and other teenagers.

British Prime Minister, Keir Starmerpromised last week that justice would be swiftly taken against those responsible for attacking police with bottles, stones or cans for several days, as well as mosques and hotels where asylum seekers live.

Las The riots began after the knife murder of three girls on July 29 at a leisure centre in the town of Southport, in the north-west of England.
