The Minnesota Wild have no plans to let Mats Zuccarello go. The team announced that it had agreed to a two-year, $8.25 million contract extension for the 36-year-old forward.
Zuccarello, who joined the Wild in 2019, will earn an average annual salary of $4.125 million in 2024-25 and 2025-26.
This season, he will complete the final year of a five-year contract at an average annual salary of $6 million.
Last season, Zuccarello had 22 goals and 45 assists for a total of 67 points in 78 games. He had the best campaign of his career in 2021-2022 with 79 points in 70 games.
Never drafted into the NHL, Zuccarello also wore the colors of the New York Rangers and the Dallas Stars during his NHL career. He has 186 goals and 573 points in 766 games.
Later Friday, the Wild also announced that they had awarded Marcus Foligno a four-year, $16 million contract extension.
Aged 32, Foligno will therefore receive an average salary of $4 million over the next four seasons.
He had 21 points (seven goals and 14 assists) in 65 games last year, in addition to leading the team with 237 hits and 97 penalty minutes.
