The Minnesota Wild ended their three-game losing streak by beating the New Jersey Devils 3-2 at home in a shootout.
Eriksson Ek puts the Wild ahead, which the Devils equalize in the mid-game with a double hit from Tatar.
In the final third, Hartman scores to make it 2-2. In the penalty shootout, the Wild then keep their nerves: The Devils miss their three tries, while Minnesota scores with Zuccarello and Gaudreau.
Rossi’s day “will come”
Austria’s US export Marco Rossi was once once more absent and is likely to spend some time with the Wild AHL farm team in Iowa.
“We don’t have room for him to play right now,” Minnesota general manager Bill Guerin told The Athletic this week. “The day will come but for now it’s good for Marco to stay super focused on Iowa and helping this team.”
Rossi was deported to the farm team at the end of November following a difficult start to the season. “Maybe he was a bit further away than we wanted to admit,” Guerin said. In Iowa, Rossi would now play “very well”.
After 29 AHL season games, the 21-year-old from Vorarlberg has nine goals and 19 assists. His ninth goal came in Iowa’s 6-5 loss to the Chicago Wolves on Saturday.
Kempe shines in Kings victory
Adrian Kempe gave the Los Angeles Kings four straight goals in a 6-0 home win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL on Saturday.
The 26-year-old Swede became the first player in Kings history to score four straight goals in a game. Pittsburgh went without a goal for the first time this season. Russia’s Artemi Panarin also scored four goals in his New York Rangers’ 6-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
