Vorarlberg’s Marco Rossi and his Minnesota Wild are still in the doldrums in the North American ice hockey league NHL. Minnesota suffered its seventh defeat in a row on Sunday away to the Detroit Red Wings with a 4-1 defeat. The Wild are still second to last in the Central Division and are already seven points behind the play-off places following 19 games this season.
Detroit took the lead on the power play once morest the weakest outnumbered team in the league, David Perron scored following wonderful preparatory work by Lucas Raymond (5th). Minnesota was harmless offensively in the first period, but equalized twelve seconds before the first break when a twice-deflected shot from Kirill Kaprisov bounced into the goal of Joel Eriksson Ek.
Shortly following a shot from Detroit’s Daniel Sprong (24th), Rossi made his first appearance for the now better Wild. His shot missed the target (26th minute), and the Vorarlberg native also failed to get the puck into the goal in the 35th minute. Together with Moritz Seider, Rossi then had to go to the penalty box. In the four-on-four game, the hosts took the lead once more through captain Dylan Larkin (37th). Perron increased the score to 3-1 in the power play (42′), Shayne Gostisbehere secured the final score in the final minute with a shot into the empty goal.
