Minnesota: Scott Briody dies after Friday’s crash / MotoAmerica Superbike

The seventh weekend of the 2022 MotoAmerica season began on Friday with terrible news. In the first qualifying session of the Superstock class, Scott Briody fell so badly that he succumbed to his injuries.

The MotoAmerica race weekend in Minnesota began as usual on Friday with free practice and qualifying. A serious accident occurred in the first qualifying of the Superstock class at Brainerd International Raceway.

Scott Briody crashed his Kawasaki on the four-kilometer course in Minnesota without any external influence and was seriously injured. Any help came too late for him, and he succumbed to his injuries.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Scott Briody,” said Chuck Aksland, MotoAmerica COO. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, his team and the MotoAmerica paddock.”

Briody was 50 years old. The American was a mechanical engineer and ran his own company. He has been active in MotoAmerica for three years, formerly in the Supersport category, most recently in the 1000cc Superstock class. A 16th place was his best result last year.

All further sessions on Friday were canceled out of respect for Briody. Our condolences go to the families and bereaved.
