Minnesota cop Dallas Edeburn found dead a year after surviving car crash

According to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, an off-duty Minnesota deputy officer who survived a violent car crash last year was found dead in his vehicle on Monday.

Ramsey County Deputy Dallas Edeburn, 30, was found dead following failing to return home from duty at the Ramsey County Patrol Station in Arden Hills, Minnesota on July 31.

“Our thoughts are with the wife, family and friends of Dallas. He was larger than life, both in his physical presence and in his service to Ramsey County,” Sheriff Bob Fletcher said.

Officials said there were no signs of injury or foul play related to Edeburn’s death and the results of the full autopsy will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner once completed.

The exact location where the car was found was not disclosed by the sheriff’s office.

Edeburn joined the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office in 2017 following a two-year stint at the county correctional facility.

“He has received numerous accolades for his tremendous policing, his heroic efforts during SWAT operations, and his work to rescue a suicidal young woman who was regarding to jump off a highway overpass,” the sheriff’s office posted on Facebook. .

Edeburn had a near-death experience in March 2021 following a stolen vehicle fleeing Mounds View police crashed into his squad car.

Fellow MPs rushed to the aid of Edeburn to drag him out of the wrecked car before the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

Edeburn suffered two fractured ribs, a deep laceration in his right elbow, a dislocated toe and a broken right kneecap, according to the Star Tribune.

He was able to recover from his injuries, as officers said he “worked valiantly to recover from his injuries and return to full service”.

Edeburn is survived by his wife and five-month-old son. A GoFundMe page was set up for the Edeburn family and raised over $17,000 by early Thursday morning.
