THE MINISTRY of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) fully supports athletes’ preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics. This was conveyed by the Deputy for Sports Achievement Improvement at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Surono at a Media Gathering activity in Jakarta, Tuesday (2/4).

Surono said that regarding this prestigious international event, the government was serious regarding improving achievements, through providing national training center (pelatnas) facilities.

“The Olympics and Paralympics are the main targets, so support for national training is provided from 2022 to 2024 in preparation for qualifications,” said Surono.

“In 2022 and 2023 there will be multiple events which will also be targeted towards the Olympics and Paralympics. For 2024 the focus will be to qualify as many athletes as possible for the Olympic and Paralympic qualifications,” he added.

Meanwhile, NOC Indonesia Secretary General Wijaya Noeradi conveyed the readiness of the Indonesian contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics. According to him, until now Indonesia still has the opportunity to qualify athletes.

“There are still many opportunities for Indonesia to add athletes to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Currently, qualifications are still ongoing, even until June 2024,” he explained.

Meanwhile, to help improve national sporting achievements from another perspective, the Ministry of Youth and Sports is also trying to strengthen relations with the media to oversee the development of sports through media gatherings.

Head of the Public Relations and General Bureau of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Triyono, said that the activity was designed to strengthen relations between his party and the media.

“I think this event can strengthen the relationship between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the media. We know that the media plays a very important role in the success and monitoring of achievements in the fields of sports and youth,” he said.

Person in Charge (PJ) for Public Relations of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Isye Marisye, said that this public relations media gathering event is an annual activity in the field of public relations that brings together media colleagues with the Ministry of Youth and Sports as working partners who need and complement each other.

“This event is a means to convey mutual aspirations and information to media partners regarding developments and government policies related to youth and sports,” he explained. (Z-7)
