The Ministry of the Interior and Decentralization stated in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by the Mauritanian News Agency this evening, Saturday, that terrorists who attacked this evening the guards of the central prison in Nouakchott are being tracked down to arrest them as soon as possible.
The following is the text of the statement:
“At nine o’clock in the evening, corresponding to March 05, 2023, four terrorists managed to escape from the central prison in Nouakchott following they assaulted the guards, which led to an exchange of fire during which two members of the National Guard were martyred, may God have mercy on them, while two were injured.” With minor wounds, God healed them.
The National Guard tightened its control over the prison and immediately began tracking the fugitives in order to arrest them as soon as possible.
Citizens are requested to report any information that may assist in the process of apprehending the fugitives to the following numbers: 102, 116, 117 and 120.
