The Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia (Menaker RI), Ida Fauziyah, said that currently his party is continuing to strive to expand employment opportunities for the community through memorandum of understanding (MoU) with foreign countries.
“Various efforts made by the Ministry of Manpower, one of which is expanding employment opportunities abroad. Alhamdulillah, at a time when we are experiencing a demographic bonus, there are many countries that are experiencing aging population” said Ida when met in Jakarta, Friday (23/8).
Furthermore, Ida conveyed several efforts that the Ministry of Manpower has made for overseas employment opportunities. For example, the Ministry of Manpower is continuing to sign MoUs with countries that are believed to have good protection for foreign workers.
“Then we also do business matching in various countries. Countries that tomorrow, early September, for example, we will do… business matching in Japan. Then we have us in the Middle East in Riyadh or Jeddah. Then in Qatar, we might also start going to Australia, then the European market. Of course, we also have to have job opportunities domestically. create in such a way,” explained Ida.
The Ministry of Manpower, Ida continued, has also implemented several MoUs with Japan, both with the central government and with its provincial governments. For Japan, Ida revealed that there are at least 50 thousand Indonesian citizens (WNI) working in the formal sector.
“A few weeks ago we also had an MoU with Austria, then next week we had an MoU with Qatar and several other countries. And this is what I need to convey, this is a formal type of work, not an informal job. So indeed we are really encouraging formal sector job opportunities,” Ida emphasized. (N-2)
