Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Justice announced that it will coordinate actions with other State institutions to provide treatment to former inmates and family members of the “Coronel Panchito López” Juvenile Re-education Institute, in accordance with the ruling of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR).
The statement states that, “pursuant to the Resolution Points of the Judgment of September 2, 2004 of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, which textually establishes that:
“The State must provide psychological treatment to all former inmates of the Institute between August 14, 1996 and July 25, 2001; medical and/or psychological treatment to former inmates injured in the fires, and psychological treatment to the relatives of deceased and injured inmates” (Resolution Point No. 12);
“The State must provide vocational assistance, as well as a special education program for former inmates of the Institute between August 14, 1996 and July 25, 2001” (Resolution Point No. 13);
It will coordinate actions with other State institutions to provide family members and victims of the “Panchito López” Institute (defunct) between August 14, 1996 and July 25, 2001, with medical, psychological and vocational treatment.
To this end, the Ministry of Justice has made communication channels available by filling out the online application reception form.
