In a statement from the Press Office of the Ministry of the Interior regarding an incident of alleged burglary, the following are highlighted:
During the midday hours of Friday, April 26, there was a complaint regarding an alleged break-in at the office of the head of the Elections Directorate, which is located on Evangelistrias Street. The entrance to the specific building is guarded by a private security company, while visitors are subject to an identity check upon entry.
The Police were immediately called to investigate the facts. On the part of the Ministry of the Interior, the prescribed protocols were activated, at the level of network security, electronic media and controls by the Department of Cyber Security of the Ministry, and so far no evidence has emerged.
The Hellenic Police investigation is ongoing.

The Hellenic Police also issued an announcement regarding the break-in at the Directorate of Elections of the Ministry of the Interior.
The preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Athens Security Sub-Directorate with the assistance of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Directorate of Electronic Crime Prosecution, while the Head of the Athens Prosecutor’s Office has been informed, it is emphasized.
“The Hellenic Police Headquarters announces that regarding a complaint made to the Acropolis Security Department, which concerns a burglary in the premises where the Elections Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior is housed, the preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Athens Security Sub-Directorate with the assistance of the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate. The Head of the Athens Primary Prosecutor’s Office has been informed regarding the case, while a further update will follow on the results of the investigations”, according to the announcement.
