Videos showing cars crashing into each other and shots being fired in the air in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, have been shared by activists on social media. The footage has sparked significant interactions online, enough for the Saudi Ministry of Interior to repost the video on its Snapchat page. The spokesman for the Riyadh police has stated that the authorities have arrested the individual responsible for the video and that they were found to be in an abnormal condition. The crash resulted in injuries to two people and damage to seven cars in a dealership south of the city.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists circulated on social media, video clips of deliberately colliding cars and shooting in the air in the capital, Riyadh, which sparked interaction.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior re-published the “camouflaged” video clip on its Snapchat page.
The media spokesman for the Riyadh police said in a statement: “Referring to the visual content circulating on social media of a vehicle driver accompanied by another, intentionally hitting a number of vehicles on one of the roads of the car showrooms south of the city of Riyadh and trying to escape and shooting in the air, the security patrols arrested him while he was citizen”.
The spokesman continued: “It was found from the inference procedures that he was in an abnormal condition, which resulted in the injury of two people and material damage to (7) vehicles.
The incident in Riyadh has caused concern and condemnation among social media users, as well as the Saudi Ministry of Interior. The reckless actions of the individual in question resulted in harm to innocent individuals, as well as extensive property damage.
