The Ministry of the Interior continues to work vigorously to completely eliminate drugs of all kinds and forms in order to protect society, its youth, its components and the future of its children, as it recently launched the “Lookout” campaign.

The Minister of Interior, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef, praised the efforts of anti-drug men to protect the country from them, saying, “Blow following blow, drug dealers and smugglers, and those who target our society and our homeland, will not be spared.”

Smugglers and promoters smuggled drugs into the Kingdom in unconventional and unexpected ways as part of a campaign targeting the Kingdom, but the Kingdom confronted them forcefully and overthrew the smugglers, including seizing 12.7 million amphetamine pills, narrowing smuggling routes from abroad.

Promoters have also resorted to the more dangerous and virulent drug Shabu, which is cheap and easy to manufacture, which threatens the safety of families and targets adolescents. Hence, the Kingdom launched a “lookout” campaign in all regions of the Kingdom until the country is cleansed of it.

The General Directorate for Drug Control reviewed efforts to arrest drug dealers in various regions during the past few days, which resulted in the arrest of 14 people who promoted drugs in 6 regions.

As a result, large quantities of drugs were seized, ranging from hashish to methamphetamine, in addition to amphetamines and tablets subject to medical regulation.

The Public Prosecution reminded of Article 46 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Law, which stipulates that whoever is caught frequenting a place prepared for the use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances while taking them, while knowing what is going on in that place, is punished with imprisonment, even if his abuse is not proven.

The ministry reaped the fruits of the campaign by overthrowing a large number of promoters and sellers during the past days and seizing promoters of narcotic cannabis, khat, pills listed on the medical schedule, amphetamine and shabu, and the campaign included all regions of the Kingdom.
