The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation presented, yesterday, a new management committee for the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences (ISCED) in Luanda, as a result of the previous one being suspended due to alleged mismanagement
the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Eugénio Alves da Silva, guaranteed, yesterday, that the new coordination of ISCED in Luanda, led by academic Augusto de Oliveira, represents “the turning of a page, a new cycle of life, following having lived in unflattering circumstances for his story.”
For you, it represents the writing of a new chapter in the work you have been carrying out, the challenges are enormous and the responsibilities greater, in the context of the current legal regime for the initial training of early childhood educators and teachers for primary and secondary education. The official said that the undergraduate and postgraduate training offer must maintain relevance, aligning with the needs and requirements of professional education training.
To this end, the institution must rethink its training offer and embrace the sequential supply of teachers, in the most necessary areas of the educational system or in areas that have not yet been covered, such as natural sciences, biology, physics, chemistry, geography , among others, “depending on the conditions and resources that must be made available”, he stressed.
“ISCED, with its accumulated experience, human and infrastructural resources at its disposal, can and must continue to do valuable, rich and serious work, so that society continues to believe in its social value, as well as in its importance for the development of education in Angola”, he emphasized. Eugénio Alves da Silva highlighted that ISCED is an institution that builds a heritage of experiences, a repertoire of knowledge and has trained many staff, therefore, its journey should not be forgotten. Therefore, “it must once once more occupy the prominent place it deserves.
Over more than 30 years he trained teachers, many of whom went on to perform other management roles in various public and private administration institutions”. Without going into the intricacies of the problem that led to the removal of previous managers, he stated that ISCED in Luanda has been a reference institution, however, in recent years it has not been for good reasons. He highlighted that this institute’s commitment to changing the educational system and teacher training must remain effective so that its relevance is not called into question.
For his part, the new coordinator, Augusto de Oliveira, assured that his team will work to make ISCED in Luanda a good place to study, work and do science, above all. He assured that the institution has become, since yesterday, a space of perfect harmony and coexistence, without domination by lists and islands, where everyone is called to work and maintain discipline. “We are aware that the challenge is great, but not greater than our desire and joy in working.
Therefore, with great motivation, we propose to work and collaborate with everyone, in order to have a better and inclusive institution, recognized by the scientific academic community and esteemed by everyone”, he stressed. “We are responsible, innovative, happy and futuristic, identified for his work and appreciated for his attitude” he added.
