Ministry of Health and Population’s ‘100 Days of Health’ Campaign: Over 5 Million Beneficiaries of Family Planning Services

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, Assistant Minister of Health and Population and the Ministry’s official spokesman, revealed the total number of beneficiaries of the family planning service through the “100 Days of Health” campaign, which amounted to 5 million, 249 thousand and 690 beneficiaries.

Abdel Ghaffar confirmed in exclusive statements to Al-Shorouk that this number of services were provided since the beginning of the “100 Health Days” campaign last June 25, during 81 days of the campaign’s operation.

Abdel Ghaffar pointed out the Ministry’s readiness to establish two centers of excellence and provide them with the latest equipment to train doctors to use the latest family planning methods in accordance with international standards, and to agree with specialized companies to provide advanced IUDs in the quantities necessary to cover the needs of the family planning sector in the Ministry of Health and Population, through the Egyptian Authority for Unified Purchasing, Supply and Medical Supply. Abdel Ghaffar explained that in addition to that, the Ministry frequently launches reproductive health convoys, and these convoys are launched within the implementation of the national plan for the Egyptian Family Development Project, and include reproductive health services with counseling, pregnancy follow-up, and examination of children, in addition to providing free ultrasound services.

Abdul Ghaffar pointed out that the programs that the state is working on to solve the population issue do not primarily look at the number of births only, but rather aim to achieve well-being and development in society by improving population characteristics and providing a safe life for newborn children at all stages of their age in various aspects.

Abdel Ghaffar confirmed that a campaign was launched under the slogan “Path of Life”, aiming to reduce the unmet needs for family planning in Egypt, enhance family planning and reproductive health services, provide family planning services and methods, and raise the efficiency of service providers from medical teams in health facilities, as well as spreading culture and community awareness. Among citizens.

Abdel Ghaffar pointed out the training of family planning service providers, according to the latest scientific methods, to ensure support for family planning services and the health of Egyptian women, in addition to launching a number of mobile medical clinics for remote and deprived areas to expand the scope of providing services there, and spreading awareness and culture among its citizens.

Abdul Ghaffar stated that citizens are informed of the dates and locations of the convoys, and rural pioneers identify the women who need the service before the convoy, pointing out that seminars are organized during the convoy to raise citizens’ awareness of the importance of spacing between births, and the impact of family planning on the health of the mother and child.
