Ministry of Foreign Affairs: the new package of sanctions against Russia will demand more responsibility from EU companies

As reported by the ministry, an agreement was reached to ban the import, purchase or transportation of diamonds of Russian origin to the EU, to provide software supply services for company management and industrial design and production.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new sanctions also extend the existing prohibition of cryptocurrency wallet, account management or storage services to Russian persons and residents, including Russian citizens and natural persons living in Russia – these persons will be prohibited from controlling or occupying any position in legal entities, entities that provide such services or in the management bodies of institutions.

The ministry notes that the new package of sanctions tightens the responsibility of EU exporters – when transporting goods to third countries, it will be required to include clauses in the contracts by which the buyers undertake not to export the purchased sensitive goods and technologies to Russia or for use there.

It is indicated that the list of dual-use goods and technologies and the list of goods that contribute to Russia’s military and technological development or the development of the country’s defense and security sector are expanded to include goods from the laser sector, machine tools and machine parts, chemicals, thermostats.

There are also restrictions on imported goods from which Russia receives significant income, such as liquefied petroleum gas, cast iron ingots and ferrous metal products, copper and aluminum wires, pipes and tubes.

The practical application of restrictions related to vehicles crossing the EU’s external border has been clarified, the ban on the transit through Russian territory of certain goods and technologies exported from the EU has been extended to include those that contribute to the strengthening of the country’s industrial forces.

The new sanctions package also expands the list of entities to which sanctions are applied, adding 147 entities to it – 61 individuals and 86 companies.
