Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Preparation of Facilities for Celebrating the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at the IKN is 90

PREPARATION of facilities for the ceremony and celebration of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day or HUT RI in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) is around 90% complete according to officials from the Ministry of Communication and Information.

“So it’s really ready for the August 17th celebration at the IKN, it can be said that it’s more than 94% finished. Just the fireplaces.

“So, August 17 is ready,” said the Director of Public Information and Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Usman Kansong in a discussion that was followed online on Saturday (10/8/2024).

Usman said that the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day ceremony is planned to be held in the State Palace area facing the field in the IKN area in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.

President Joko Widodo and invited guests consisting of community leaders, traditional leaders, and ambassadors from friendly countries are scheduled to attend the Red and White Flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day at the IKN.

Transportation infrastructure to the IKN area has been prepared ahead of the implementation of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day celebration ceremony.

The toll road connecting Balikpapan City with the IKN area has been inaugurated, so that the trip to the IKN in the Penajam Paser Utara Regency area only takes about one hour by car.

“Previously, it took 2.5 hours from Balikpapan to the IKN, but with the new toll road that was inaugurated, the time to the IKN can be cut to just one hour,” said Usman.

With the transportation infrastructure that has been prepared, Usman is confident that guests staying in Balikpapan City can reach the ceremony venue without any significant obstacles.

The 2024 Flag Raising Troops (Paskibraka) who will be on duty at the commemoration ceremony of the Indonesian Independence Day at the IKN are also getting ready. “The officers have had a dress rehearsal. Now the Red and White Flag procession is also underway from Jakarta. After that, there will be an inauguration of the Paskibraka by the President in the credential room at the State Palace, said Usman. (Ant/P-3)
