DEPUTY Chairman of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) Expert Council, Budiman Sudjatmiko, responded to the discourse of President-elect Prabowo Subianto who would increase the number of ministries from the original 34 to 40 institutions.
Meanwhile, increasing the number of ministries itself would violate the Law on State Ministries. Responding to this, Budiman explained that the ministry might not change but be added to the body.
“It might be that the ministry doesn’t change but bodies are added, right? “A body might be formed, for example a ministry or ministries might be repositioned, some might be merged,” said Budiman, Wednesday (8/5).
Budiman explained that there was a new nomenclature created from an existing ministry.
“There is a new nomenclature, forming existing ministries with new nomenclature, old ones being transferred to other ministries, or bodies being formed,” he added.
Budiman explained that there are two possibilities that can be taken without violating the law. First, existing ministries have their functions added.

The second, said Budiman, is to create existing ministries but with new nomenclature, then transfer the old nomenclature to another nomenclature.
“For example, if we need to accelerate food and nutrition, it might be possible, the ministry of agriculture might be changed to the ministry of agriculture, food and nutrition, then agriculture would be merged, for example with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, forestry and agriculture,” he said.
“So the matter of tinkering will be handed over to the president or a body will just be formed,” added Budiman.

The discourse of increasing the number of ministries from 34 to 40 during the era of the elected president and vice president for the 2024-2029 period, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, has emerged.
University of Indonesia Policy Expert Lina Miftahul Jannah said this discourse would have a big impact on the state budget.
The reason, said Lina, is that Indonesia is currently focusing on building the Archipelago Capital City (IKN), which requires a fairly large state budget.
“In terms of the budget, it must be large, our country is in an IKN condition, so has this been planned beforehand? “I think Prabowo’s idea of 40 ministries is different from Jokowi’s era of 34,” said Lina, Tuesday (7/5). (Z-8)
