The Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Enterprises, Employment and Competencies, Younes Skouri, confirmed today, Tuesday in Rabat, that the increase in wages, the retirement file, and the organic law that determines the conditions and methods for exercising the right to strike are among the priority issues during the second round of social dialogue.

Skouri explained, in a statement to the press, that the two sessions with the Moroccan Labor Union and the General Union of Workers in Morocco fall within the framework of the April round of social dialogue, which began with a series of meetings between members of the government, headed by the Prime Minister, trade union centers and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises.

In this regard, he highlighted that “file by file is being studied, especially files related to wage increases, retirement, and the right to strike, in addition to a number of other sectoral files.”

The Minister stressed that this round, which reflects the sincere desire of the government as well as the new methodology based on negotiation, takes seriously all the demands of workers and unions.

He said that the main goal is to make May 1 a real holiday for the Moroccan working people to celebrate their achievements, adding that the government will continue its fundamental reforms to develop the Kingdom.

For his part, a member of the National Secretariat of the Moroccan Labor Union, Mohamed Haitoum, said in a similar statement that during this second round of social dialogue, three main files were discussed concerning the general increase in wages, which will include all sectors, except for those that had previously benefited from the increase. At the beginning of the year. He added that the second file relates to reforming retirement systems, stressing in this regard the importance of preserving gains for the benefit of retirees and future generations, especially the retirement age, which should be optional and not mandatory.

Regarding the right to strike, a member of the National Secretariat of the Moroccan Labor Union indicated that negotiations are still ongoing with the aim of reaching a balanced draft law acceptable to all parties.

These two meetings took place in the presence, in particular, of the Minister Delegate in charge of digital transition and administrative reform, Ghaitha Mazour, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fattah, and the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Fawzi Lakjaa.
