Minister-President Mention Controversy at L’Or bleu Video-Mapping Show in Verviers

On November 30, during the first screening of the video-mapping show L’Or bleu, on the facade of the town hall of Verviers, the name of the Minister-President of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation Hervien appeared in the ‘introduction.

A prohibited mention which provoked a series of reactions, in particular from the PTB which denounced an electoral advertisement. Pierre-Yves Jeholet (MR) spoke the next day in a letter addressed to Rudy Demotte, president of the FWB parliament, to explain that he was not aware of the presence of this mention, nor therefore the initiative, and that he had asked the organizer to remove it for the next performances.

Demanding proof, the PTB and Écolo had requested the convening of the Commission for the Control of Communications of Members of the Government, and obtained it on December 4.

The latter met this Monday, December 18, 2023, behind closed doors, without the presence of Pierre-Yves Jeholet, to analyze the file.

And she concluded that there was no responsibility on the part of the minister-president and that it was indeed a mistake on the part of the operator Tour des Sites, informs the spokesperson for Pierre-Yves Jeholet , Nicolas Reynders. “The commission asks him to send a letter to the operator to remind him of the rules.”

For Verviers MP László Schonbrodt (PTB), doubts about responsibility for this fault are not resolved simply by taking into account the subsidy decree. He thus deplores that Pierre-Yves Jeholet was not heard to find out what had been said once his absence, and the installation of a voice-over, had been announced. “He expresses in this letter what he asked to do and not to do: that there be a voice-over and not his image but the logo of the community. But he does not comment on the fact that he said that there should not be his first and last name.”
